Colossians 3:14 (NJKV)
But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
Lucas and I watched Inside Out for our date night on Tuesday (cheap ticket Tuesdays are a hack). I hadn’t seen the first Inside Out, but had a small idea of what it was about. What I wasn’t prepared for, was to find such deep messaging and meaning throughout this Disney Pixar animated film.
Brief Synopsis:
Two years after her move to San Francisco, Riley, now 13, is about to enter high school. Her personified emotions — Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust — have since overseen a newly-formed element of Riley's mind called her "Sense of Self", which houses memories and feelings that form Riley's beliefs. Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust have been running a successful operation by all accounts. However, when Anxiety shows up, they aren't sure how to feel.
What inside out taught me.
Love is the bond of perfection.
I have loved this verse for a while, but watching the below particular scene on Inside Out help me visualize love, being the perfect bond.

Lucas mentioned that this was the definition of love; embracing all of your emotions and knowing that it all makes you, you. It reminded me that God is love, and even in moments when we are spiraling, we can imagine God embracing our whole selves, loving every bit of us. That brings me peace.
We can choose our emotions
Towards the end of the film, Riley sends signals for Joy to come to the control center of her mind.
This showed me how we can physically channel Joy even in the midst of heaviness. Nehemiah 8:10 says ‘The joy of the Lord is my strength.’ We can find strength in commanding Joy to take center stage.
I recommend anyone who hasn’t seen it to give it a view! Happy Friday.
I saw it yesterday! Such a good film!
This has convinced me to see it even more! This is beautiful. I love how we can see God in everything.
