John 5:17 (NIV)
In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”
I am trying to be very intentional about not letting various situations decide who God is for me. I want to be as sure of Him as He is of me, no matter what is going on.
This morning, I woke up to an exciting email. I immediately screenshotted it to send to Lucas because He was in the other room, when I saw that he had also shared an exciting new development on something he was working on.
“WOW God is working!” I replied.
But when is He not?
I caught myself disappointed at this angle. For that past few weeks things had been stagnant on these particular initiatives that we’re both working on separately, and it felt like we were going nowhere. What a coincidence that, on the same morning, we both wake up to some movement in these areas! It must mean God is working!
But when is He not?
He was working the day before, and the day before that, and all those days when it was silent. I realized I was subconsciously reinforcing the notion that when things don’t go well, God is not working.
It is my goal that there comes a day I will experience a setback, pain, or an unanswered prayer and proclaim ‘WOW God is working!’. It could be tomorrow.
We know that He is good all the time, and that He is always working things out for our good. Because He loves us. And that’s just what He does!
Once we are firmly rooted and grounded in the permanence of His love, we will know that all circumstances are in His omniscient doing, because He is good, and He loves.
Needed this! “Eni , God is working!” I need to remind myself of that more often.
